  • I can’t see my item on the results page.

    It can take up to 7 days for property to be found and taken to the Lost Property Office. Usually it is far quicker but be prepared for some delays.

    Still not found on the result page? Try doing another search. In the description field, try to think like someone recording your item found. Think of it like a puzzle or an investigation. If you have lost a Barbour jacket, try the following single word details in the search bar; “jacket”, “make of jacket “Barbour””, “colour “blue””. Use one word if you can as this opens the field. You can narrow down in the results page using the categories filter. Still not found? We recommend that you register the item as lost by creating a free account. You can even upgrade that account to add photos of your lost item and you can also add a reward if you like. Registering will automatically email each Lost Property Office with your loss and set them on alert for it. If they register it then you will be emailed automatically as soon as the item is logged on MissingX.

  • How do I search for my lost item?

    Type in www.missingx.com into your browser and fill in the property details on the front page. Choose from our partner locations to narrow down the search parameters even further.

    Simply press the search button to start the search for your lost item. Results will open automatically

  • How do I find my IMEI number?

  • Is there anything else I can do?

    MissingX is the front end of Lost Property Offices worldwide. We use powerful algorithms to match your property against those items found and handed in to the office. We recommend that you register the item as lost by creating a free account. You can even upgrade that account to add photos of your lost item and you can also add a reward if you like. Upgrading gives you access to anonymized chat screens that can put a finder in touch with you and vice versa. There are conditions to this though so please beware of any dialogues.

  • Why can’t I call you on the phone?

    MissingX is not a Lost Property Office but we are the service that they use to match their found items against your loss reports. Usually they use our MisisngX software or Web portal to record all property they find. They hope that we will match their finds to your losses. Usually we do you will be glad to know.

    We do not have a phone number you can call but please register your lossby creating a free account. You can even upgrade that account to add photos of your lost item and you can also add a reward if you like.

    Registering will automatically email each Lost Property Office with your loss and set them on alert for it. If they register it then you will be emailed.

  • What item should I claim?

    We do not put accurate details on MissingX.com results page (like IMEI or serial numbers). To do so would drive crime and especially fraud. Look for an item that is closest in description using Make / Model / Colour and the date found. Remember that it can take several days to be found and reported so allow 7 days from the date of loss. If you see an item that may be yours, click the “envelope” icon on the right side of the item and fill in the Claim Form. Please add all details including any IMEI or Serial Number, distinguishing features or PIN (lock code) number. See HERE for IMEI numbers. The Lost Property Office will notify you by email if they believe the item they have is yours. Please do not worry. They have hundreds of items handed in each day so the process takes time.

  • How do I claim an item?

    If you see an item that may be yours, click the “envelope” icon on the right side of the item and fill in the Claim Form. Please add all details including any IMEI or Serial Number, distinguishing features or PIN (lock code) number. See HERE for IMEI numbers.   • Why register on MissingX?

    If you register your loss then MissingX will send an automatic email to the Lost Property Offices we work with to notify them of your loss. The system will hold on to your item details and notify you automatically when your lost item is recorded on our system by automatic email and flash a message to the office where your property was recorded as found.

  • Why upgrade to Premium?

    By upgrading to a Premium registration for a modest fee we will work in the background for three months to match your item against items found at Lost Property Offices and MissingX will send you an email to notify you when your lost item is recorded on our system. We will flash a message to the office where your property was recorded as found so they can contact you too. You can upload pictures of your lost item and you can add a reward for the return of your property. We also offer an anonymised chat system where you can contact the finder of your property so you can arrange for the item to be returned to you. Please be aware that it is illegal for someone to hold your item for ransom or request a reward for its return. You cannot ask for the item to be returned “no questions asked” as this is an offence. We take your safety seriously so please read and comply with the advice given to you on our emails should you agree to chat with the finder.
